When Angelica and Rob reached out to me, they described their Indiana backyard wedding as a “Dutch/American wedding with Mexican food at his family’s dairy farm.” And I knew immediately that this would be an incredible and unique experience. Rob’s family moved here from the Netherlands to run their family dairy farm, Union Go Dairy. Angelica didn’t expect to fall for a farmer, but it was one of life’s greatest surprises.
“We were introduced by a mutual friend. I am originally from the city, he’s a farm boy through and through! I initially said no, I thought what in the world would I do with a farmer. Eventually I decided I would go on the date, you know just get it out of the way. As soon as I seen him, I had butterflies in my stomach (I still get them today!) I had never experienced that before. He gave me a tour of his farm and we ate tacos at the local Mexican restaurant. We came back to his house and talked until 2am about life and goals. He hugged me and I was on my way. He was and is one of the most respectful loving individuals I have ever met. He teaches me so much from driving tractors, caring for our animals, and probably, most importantly, to love myself the way he loves me. In a way he saved me and my goals changed to something so much greater than I could have imagined. I don’t remember what I did before him, but I know I don’t want to do this life without him. He’s my person.”
Their backyard wedding was a perfect blend of their history, with his Netherland roots, serving Mexican food in honor of their first date, and celebrating with close family and friends at his family dairy farm. Rob’s family in the Netherlands was originally supposed to fly out to attend the wedding, but COVID threw a wrench into their plans. Instead they surprised them with a recorded video and messages of love: cue the tears all around! These two were a joy to work with, and were such a fun and ecstatic group to be around. Their sweet Indiana backyard wedding ended with a perfectly brilliant Midwest sunset and an epic sparkler exit. I am so incredibly thankful to have met you two and been able to capture such special memories!
