Mid October in Northern Michigan might be cold, but it was well worth the trip. We began our adventure for Katie and Andy’s Sleeping Bear Dunes elopement, and started the slow journey up the dunes. The sun came out from her hiding and warmed our goosebump-ridden skin and made all the sand glow gold. Once we finally reached the top of the dune overlooking Lake Michigan, we had to stand for a moment to take in all the beauty and awe that came with the view. It was nothing if not breathtaking.

Katie and Andy were such troopers, laughing and enjoying all that nature had to offer. They ran across the beach hand in hand despite the wind biting at their hair and eyes, and danced like there wasn’t a care in the world. And Katie totally rocked the boho flower crown look that matched the bouquet made by Emmie’s Flower Cart. As the sun teased the horizon, we ran into an older couple as we made our way through the dunes. They told us how they were hiking through the dunes too, celebrating their 30th anniversary together and that it was one of their favorite places to be together, and congratulated Andy and Katie on their Sleeping Bear Dunes Elopement. The air got cooler and we finished the shoot among the pretty woods turning gold with autumn, and golden hour fully upon us. It is so clear the love Andy and Katie share is so full of strength and adventure, and were so down for whatever came along the way of our adventure together. So cheers to the couples that like to take spontaneous adventures, to the adorable little lakeside towns to walk through hand in hand, and to taking the road less traveled by.
