There was a cool chill in the air, and the silhouettes of the mountains looked like smears of black ink across the horizon as we drove to meet Amanda and Adam for their sunrise elopement at Sugarloaf Mountain and Presque Isle Park. We met at their cute Airbnb in Marquette, and they had a relaxed time of getting ready together and sharing waffles before we headed out into the dark to drive to Sugarloaf Mountain.
Sugarloaf Mountain
Once we reached the Sugarloaf Mountain parking lot, we geared up with headlamps and lanterns and began the hike up to the top, the autumn leaves crunching beneath our feet. We shot lantern photos as we went, the sky washed with the blue hour watercolor hues of deep purples, blues, and pinks. As the red sun peaked above the horizon, we set up for the ceremony, with Jake officiating. Amanda and Adam exchanged vows overlooking the breathtaking fall color of the Upper Peninsula as they committed their lives to each other, with all the laughter and tears of course.
After finishing the sweetest ceremony, we then explored the area around Sugarloaf Mountain, taking in the gorgeous autumn views of Marquette and shooting gorgeous golden hour photos. They had the cutest champagne pop ever, and after a bit of exploring, enjoying drinks, and soaking up the views, they then signed the marriage license and found the sweetest hikers to sign as witnesses, it was so sweet! We then headed back to our cars for part two of their gorgeous autumn Upper Peninsula elopement.
Presque Isle Park
For the second half of their elopement, we then headed over to Presque Isle Park for more exploring, relaxing, and their first dance. The air was a bit chilly but the sun felt good bouncing off the warm black volcanic rocks. Amanda and Adam explored, and we took some incredible photos of the bay and fall foliage while soaking up the views. While exploring we found a little cove that was perfect for their first dance. Amanda and Adam swayed and danced together in the warm sunspots that dappled the shore, laughing and smiling together as their elopement at Sugarloaf Mountain and Presque Isle Park came to a beautiful end. We headed back to the cars, hugged, and then parted ways off in search of some great local coffee in Marquette!
Amanda and Adam, it was such a joyful and breathtaking experience documenting your Upper Peninsula elopement! It was an honor to document these memories, as well as officiate and marry you two! We wish you both all the love and laughter together in all the adventures to come. 🙂
