Let’s be honest, being in front of a camera for an hour is daunting. I myself feel horrendously awkward when I get my photo taken! Your engagement session doesn’t have to be this painful experience, it can actually be a total blast! Engagement sessions are complimentary in all my main wedding photo packages and I highly recommend taking advantage of this option! It’s so nice to be able to get in front of my camera with your boo and be able to relax and we can get to know each other more. I also consider engagement sessions a sort of “trial run” so you can see what it’s like to shoot with me and my style, so that way you aren’t nervous on your wedding day!
What to Wear?
One of the hardest decisions when it comes to an engagement session, what are you supposed to wear? The answer is whatever you are confident in! I capture you two as your authentic selves, so I will never tell you to wear clothing that matches my style or aesthetic. Instead, I recommend coordinating colors with each other, and wearing what makes you feel confident and gorgeous! Feeling a long flowy dress but also want edgy jeans and a crop top? We can totally do both! I allow up two outfits in an engagement session so you both can get variety. I know it’s fun to get out the fancy formal outfits, but also run around and dance in something more comfortable and laid back. If you ever have questions, or are wondering how colors will look together don’t be afraid to ask!
The Wheres and the Whens
So where do we shoot? Don’t worry, I have an ever growing list a mile long of pretty and unique places all over Indiana and surrounding states. Want to get those pretty sunset beach photos? Let’s hit the dunes! Are you and your boo adventurous hikers and love waterfalls? I gotchu. You tell me what you are wanting and I can send plenty of options. We can road trip to gorgeous locations, or if you want to keep it nearby I have all sorts of locations within a 20 minute drive that will fit your style as well! And I always recommend sunrise or sunset for the best light for photos, as it adds a whole other dimension of pretty! Though more people prefer sunset, sunrise will sometimes have fog along with sun-rays that make for otherworldly photos, so if you are down for waking up early let’s set something up!
What to Bring
That is totally up to you two! I’ve had couples bring picnic blankets, champagne to pop, a sweet car, even their fur babies! You aren’t required to bring anything but you are perfectly welcome to as props can make sessions more fun and unique! What to Expect
I understand not everyone or their significant other is comfortable in front of the camera or enjoys getting their photo taken. But no worries, I try to make sessions as fun and relaxed as possible! I have a fun couples playlist full of music to dance and laugh to, or slow dance and take in sweet moments and help you guys relax. I also use plenty of prompts and fun directions so your photos are more candid, authentic, and draws out your real personalities. Real laughter always captures better than fake after all. I know personally I hate the forced cookie cutter poses that end in “cheese!” and I know how uncomfortable it can feel with a camera right in your face, so my mission is to make you completely forget there is even a camera there, and instead relax and have fun with your significant other. And don’t worry, the session won’t last forever. I typically shoot for an hour and the time flies by when you are having fun.
When and how will we receive photos?
My official turnaround for engagement photos is 2-4 weeks, and I include several black and white photos as well. Also I don’t put a cap on your photos, I simply will send the best of the best! I deliver your high resolution photos through a private online gallery and you have the ability to download photos all at once or one at a time. I also offer a print shop directly through your gallery as well!
